Mexican drug cartel invades Texas, seizes two ranches

UPDATE 7/25: The story still has not been publicly confirmed by law enforcement. Other media are denouncing the story as a hoax. Dvorak is standing by her story and reportedly will have an update today. Are Dvorak's two sources actually LPD officers? Did they chase a few illegals onto a ranch and then blow it way out of proportion? We need an explanation immediately if the Examiner's credibility is to be saved.

Los Zetas drug cartel seizes 2 U.S. ranches in Texas:
In what could be deemed an act of war against the sovereign borders of the United States, Mexican drug cartels have seized control of at least two American ranches inside the U.S. territory near Laredo, Texas.

Two sources inside the Laredo Police Department confirmed the incident is unfolding and they would continue to coordinate with U.S. Border Patrol today. “We consider this an act of war,” said one police officer on the ground near the scene. There is a news blackout of this incident at this time and the sources inside Laredo PD spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Word broke late last night that Laredo police have requested help from the federal government regarding the incursion by the Los Zetas. It appears that the ranch owners have escaped without incident but their ranches remain in the hands of the blood thirsty cartels.

Laredo Border Patrol is conducting aerial surveillance over the ranches to determine the best way to regain control of the U.S. ranches, according to the Laredo Police department.

More at Temple of Mut and Cypress Times, which broke the story.

In other news, the Obama Administration is still suing the state of Arizona for helping enforce U.S. immigration law.

Folks, be VERY careful in re-posting this story, NONE of the news services have it, no other source in Texas has it besides The Cypress News...

I called the Laredo Police and they said they have NO information and referred me to the Webb County Sheriffs Office, I called the Webb County S.O. and got NO answer...

I am NOT going to post this on MY blog, simply because one paper doesn't give enough citation of source... Especially when the paper says the Laredo PD is their source and the Laredo PD denies it...

Thanks. I was skeptical at first, too, but Kimberly Dvorak is a professional and says she has two independent sources within the department.

Google map the location the source claims the incident happened at.

The is NO "Minerales Annex Road" in or near Laredo TX.

That's one fact wrong. There will be others.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

But Police Department said NO info, not a "Official" confirmation or denial. Appears the S.O doesnt want to comment either.
If there are FEDs involved they wont say anything & wait for them to make a statement.
As for a road not showing up on a google map...My rural(TX)road isn't on google maps.

This story is not true. I spoke with teh Webb County Sheriff's Department tonight. Everything is normal in Webb County. There have been no 911 calls about anything remotely related to this story. I would suggest taking this story down as they are being swamped with calls.

Did you hear the gentlemen? Take it down!! It's unverified and you have plenty of evidence it's untrue!

It is true, and Kimberly will be posting details in an upcoming article tomorrow.

If you use mapquest you WILL find Minerales Annex Road. It is to the NNW of the city on the Texas side and is near ao ox-bow of the river.

All I can go on is my own sources several levels removed. I contacted members of the Oklahoma minutemen and they reached others in Laredo. The answer is "No, didn't happen."

Closest thing they came back with was a burglary of an empty ranch house a couple of days ago, but there is no armed standoff.

Sorry, sir...I just checked the maps, and found Minerales Annex Road approx. 10 miles North West of Miles near Nuevo Laredo, just like the article says. You are full of it.

Happy Super Tuesday!
