Republicans, you are doomed

Note, again, this is Zeke writing.  Chairman Varones may offer a countering opinion.

I just watched the first half of Paul Ryan's speech, a day after the fact.  That's all I could stand.  My thoughts:

1) This is the f'ing guy people are so excited about?  He seems like every bright, ambitious, phony asshole I ever went to law school with.

In 2004, a friend and I, while watching young Obama speak at the Democratic Convention, agreed, "This guy is going to be President some day."

Suffice it to say, Paul Ryan is no Barack Obama when it comes to charisma (or probably even principles--see below).  If B.O. has an over-reliance on teleprompters, at least he's smooth enough with the delivery.  Ryan seems to throw in what he considers to be the appropriate expression for a line after he's finished it.  That was a laugh line--a smirk would do nicely here!

2) How does this guy say "We have to stop spending money we don't have" for big applause, and spend the rest of the speech attacking Obama for threatening Medicaid?  We're the party of fiscal responsibility, you see, but we won't let those rascals touch your entitlements.

3) Is this convention 98% white or is that a trick of shot selection?  Hmm...here's a wide shot of the auditorium...and...um, yep, it really is 98% white.  Your demographic is getting old and dying, amigos.  (That means "friends," for you English-only types.)

4) If you can't make a case out of the disastrous truth of the last four years, your ability to make a case through half-truths and utter b.s. will not save you.  Already the anecdotes from Ryan's speech (the shuttered GM plant, for one) have been shot to pieces.

For trying to unseat a miserable incumbent, these guys make Kerry/Edwards look like a dream team.

Four more years! Four more years!

Your buddy Pat Dollard offers a completely different view. http://patdollard.com/2012/08/2009-news-report-proves-ryan-was-correct-about-plant-closure/

Zeke can be forgiven. He gets his facts from the Obama-partisan MSM.

Facts about Janesville plant

Facts about the MSM

More from IBD:

If media “fact checkers” are just impartial guardians of the truth, how come they got their own facts wrong about Paul Ryan’s speech, and did so in a way that helped President Obama’s re-election effort?

Case in point was the rush of “fact check” stories claiming Ryan misled when he talked about a shuttered auto plant in his home state.

Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler posted a piece — “Ryan misleads on GM plant closing in hometown” — saying Ryan “appeared to suggest” that Obama was responsible for the closure of a GM plant in Janesville, Wis.

“That’s not true,” Kessler said. “The plant was closed in December 2008, before Obama was sworn in.”

What’s not true are Kessler’s “facts.” Ryan didn’t suggest Obama was responsible for shuttering the plant. Instead, he correctly noted that Obama promised during the campaign that the troubled plant “will be here for another hundred years” if his policies were enacted.

Also, the plant didn’t close in December 2008. It was still producing cars until April 2009.

An AP “fact check” also claimed that “the plant halted production in December 2008″ even though the AP itself reported in April 2009 that the plant was only then “closing for good.”

CNN’s John King made the same claim about that plant closure. But when CNN looked more carefully at the evidence, it — to its credit — concluded that what Ryan said was “true.”

Lots of the "Ryan lied" claims comes from a Soros backer who was hired as an opinion writer at Fox News.

In the speech Ryan clearly stated it was a broken promise and not a cause and effect.

Further, Zeke may not be aware that Rep. Ryan wrote and passed a budget for America. That is something the entire Democrat party has failed to do for 3 years.

As for the race of the convention, Zeke may have been watching MSNBC who did not air the minority speeches by Mrs. Love and others.

NY Daily News:

The bottom line is that the fact checker criticisms of Ryan's speech come in only one form: "Yes it's true, but here's some context that Democrats want to talk about." That's not fact checking; that's advocacy. And it's not persuasive, it's absurd.

If the best retort you guys have is that Ryan's leading attack piece was technically accurate, then a big pat on the head.

As deluded as everybody was about Hopey McChange four years ago, Republicans are doubly deluded in thinking they've found his intellectual, charming equal.

Ryan is a wooden, type-A dick, and no fact-checker on either side can fix that.

Not surprised at 98% White. GOP is the party of prejudice, racism and mindless neo fascists. No self respecting non white person should have anything to do with them. I don't live in USA but I find Republicans repulsive ,uncaring, elitist and selfish.
They need to get out more! Get a life and a passport , and see the wood from the trees!

You have just proved my point ! Your xenophobic redneck duck shooting response is typicallly Republican. Find something or somebody outside America to blame. You need a mirror to have a good look at your siege mentality attitudes.

What makes you think I have a European connection? I could be Canadian, Antipodean, or indeed any Nationality for all you know... Think twice before calling in your verbal airstrike!

Love your blog WC but have to disagree with you about Mittens.

(1) His business was bailed out by FDIC - successful business does not have to be bailed out. Please see http://www.businessinsider.com/the-federal-bailout-that-saved-bain-capital-and-mitt-romney-2012-8

(2) Let me guess that if he gets elected, (a) Obamacare will survive in one or another shape or form, (b) budget deficit will be substantial unless economy falls off the cliff, (c) involvement in foreign adventures started by Bush-2 and continued by Obama will continue.

(3) Treatment of Paul delegates at RNC is beyond shameful. http://www.dailypaul.com/252444/michael-steele-on-the-convention

Why would anyone want to support Mr. Empty Suit #2?

Jonny,

You have just proved my point! Your Ameri-phobic, state-sponsored-media-believing naive views are typical of insular, self-righteous Euros.

How'a that nanny state socialism working out for you guys? Math is a bitch, huh?

Wcv said...

drB,

You make very valid points, and I'm not endorsing nor voting for Romney.

However, I do feel the need to call out the corrupt and partisan MSM frequently.

And I do think Mittens would be at least marginally better than Obama. In fact, if Obama wins, I think it's time to start planning an escape strategy. Check out the Sovereign Man link on the right side of the blog.

Thanks for answering WC. I agree that Mittens is "marginally better" than Obama. However, I think that electing Mittens is worse than keeping Obamination. If there is Dem president and Republican CONgress and Senate, then they may do less damage than with Republican everything. Things were OK with Clinton for that reason, but everything went off tracks with GWB. Another way of looking at is that Mr. Empty Suit O has no ability to really accomplish anything, while Mittens has at least some minimal administrative skills which may be applied in wrong direction.

About MSM, I am not 100% sure if they are biased or just clinically retarded. Probably some of both, which is the result of lack of teaching critical analysis at high schools and universities.

And I do have a European citizenship "just in case". Unfortunately I do not have enough money to buy the safest one, which is Liechtenstein.

WC( bad break with the initials!) . You are still duck shooting. I'm much more familiar with your media ,and your country's politics than you are with mine. And it's Maths not Math.
And my Country is not in hock to the Chinese - the ultimate Socialists! Get out of the glasshouse and travel more.

Ignorant? Check.
Condescending? Check.
Mocks US debt but silent about own country's fiscal mess? Check.
Certain that Republicans are racist because he saw someone say it on TV? Check.

Yeah, I'm going to stick with the Euro call. Canadians and Antipodeans are smarter and have more class.

You guys plainly know nothing about one another, but the stereotypes and name-calling should solve everything.

Fair comment Anonymous. W.C Is losing the argument and as predicted calls in the verbal airstrike. W.C. You need to focus on the issues not the personality! I'm sure there is a Debating Society in your neighbourhood where you can develop your potential.

Wcv said...

Argument? You were serious?

I thought you were just playing a stereotypical stereotyping self-righteous European.

You're really that guy?

Jonny said...

W.C. You're repeating yourself. You're tiring, if not tiresome. Your stereotype- The Ugly American. Checkmate!

Wcv said...

Wait a minute. The "Ugly American" is someone who acts obnoxious overseas.

I thought you said we didn't have passports.

Get your xenophobic stereotypes straight.

Happy Super Tuesday!
