I always though that yeast was a bacteria and therefore not vegan. Anna at Carrot and Potato Time clears up my yeast misconception: yeast is a unicellular fungus, not a bacteria.
And apparently I was totally not paying attention in biology class: bacteria is not in the animal kingdom, either. It's got its own kingdom called Monera. Maybe they invented that after I finished school.
