Danny Elfman on the 99%-ers

Ladies and gentlemen, the genius behind Oingo Boingo, The Simpsons and Nightmare Before Christmas soundtracks, and Jenna Elfman:

I'm so tired of hearing you whine
About the revolution
Bringin' down the rich
When was the last time you dug a ditch, baby!

You're just a middle class, socialist brat
From a suburban family and you never really had to work
And you tell me that we've got to get back
To the struggling masses (whoever they are)
You talk, talk, talk about suffering and pain
Your mouth is bigger than your entire brain
What the hell do you know about suffering and pain . . .

Golly, I had no idea! Need to go give him some capitalist love in the form of net royalties.

I don't understand the vitriol on OWS. Here's a group of people peacefully petitioning the government for redress and you mock them. A lot of them actually get it, most don't though, that the root cause of all these problems has been ponzi economics and outright fraud.

Anonymous,

Yes, I was careful to say 99%-ers instead of OWS.

The origins of OWS were those who get it about the ponzi and the fraud, but the movement has been overtaken by socialists and Obamunists. Yesterday in my town a small Occupy rally was full of senior citizens with signs promoting the Obama "jobs" bill. You could tell these geezers were on some Organizing for America or MoveOn.org e-mail list, and they just went out to support Obama because they've always been Democrats and they do what they're told.

So I picked on the 99%-er theme, which is explicitly about class envy and wanting handouts, rather than OWS which still has a few enlightened souls among the moronic masses.

You a trying to impose a nearly 30-year old pseudo-punk song on today's situation? Were you alive in 1983?

PS - Jenna Elfman is married to his nephew.

Carry on.

Anon,

Some things are timeless. Just as the Founding Fathers', George Orwell's, and Ayn Rand's cautions about the dangers of big government remain relevant today, Elfman's observations on lefty poseurs of the 80's remain true of lefty poseurs today.

Nice bitchslap on Jenna though. +1!

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs.” John Rogers

Ayn Rand may have been over-the-top with her heroes, but her villains were spot-on.

See Al Gore and Barack Obama.

Our definitions of peaceful differ, Anon. This group, however peaceful and noble their cause may have been in the beginning, have had their traction robbed by outright Marxists, Maoists, and anarchists. Hence, Zucotti Park becoming a sewer, police officers taunted and attacked, defecating on flags and cop cars, and other acts reserved for the lowest among our species. They are worthy of more than mocking- they deserve downright contempt. If the less-deluded OWS folks don't want to be counted among them, they should disassociate themselves. But they don't, perhaps because it was the nonsensical raving of loons that made the OWS go viral and get the widespread coverage in the first place. Sad state of affairs, yes, but the current composition of the protesters still makes it completely impossible to justify OWS or the 99% nonsense. In my opinion.

And I recently wrote an article that addressed the diseased perspective of these socialistics 99%ers. Have a read if interested.

William,

You're a loony

W.C. Varones said...

What's loony about that? Straight up history.

I thin 6:08 is our resident socialist. He gets bitter when you point out his people's atrocities.

I think Elfman has pretty much done a political 180 since the 80s. He was a HUGE Obama supporter, and as far as I know, still is.

Uh, Danny Elfman hates the GOP. This song, like many of his, is pretty tongue-in-cheek.

W.C. Varones said...

Hating the GOP and hating middle-class socialist brats are not mutually exclusive.

Read the lyrics. If you think that's tongue-in-cheek and he really loves bourgeois socialist douchebags, you're on glue.

Happy Super Tuesday!
