The median Generation X household has spent the first half of their lives saving enough money to buy... one not particularly fully featured mid-range car!

A: The average Baby Boomer circa 2030... considering that almost half of them have less than $25K saved for retirement. I'm sure that will take them far.

That younger people are barely scraping by is somewhat understandable in light of the incredible rise in cost-of-living over the past 10 years. That many Boomers are struggling, having had 40 years to save in a very affordable environment and a decent economy, is embarrassing.

OK, the point wasn't partisan hackery... I had just Googled "Boomer average retirement savings", and picked one of the links.

Numerous other articles assert the same lack of savings without the political mumbo-jumbo.
