May 21st Reminder

There are a number of billboards around the Bay Area bringing the cheery news that May 21st, 2011 is it, done, sayonara....End of Days. It's being brought to you by the friendly folks at Family Radio.

The graphic on their web page is telling. If I'm from Siam, Belgium, Jamaica, Canada, the UN, or Nigeria (can't tell that last one), I'd be sh!tting my pants on that day. "WAIT, ARE WE FIRST?!?"

Now the Bible may guarantee it but what does Harry Potter have to say on the issue?

BTW, I don't necessarily have a problem with folks believing this. I mean I think they are tools and will feel a little bit silly on May 22nd, but I believe in freedom of speech so please proclaim disaster-away.

No, the problem I have is that I bet you anything the majority of zealots that believe this and have mortgages are still paying their mortgages. Now that's insanity!

As a Christian, I hate the occasional stupidity of other Christians that gives our religion a bad name (also thinking Westboro here). The history of the last two thousand years is replete with examples of Christians predicting the end is nigh. Since they profess to follow Jesus, maybe they should listen to his words on the subject, "But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

Happy Super Tuesday!
