Someday the mountain might get him but the law never will
The left goes into "Full Meltdown" over one NPR firing? Really W.C. – you have some imagination! The left understands that whey are not going to do well in these elections but as the right has offered no real solutions to the problems facing this country they (the left) probably believe that things will swing back their way when Obama is reelected in 2012.Until someone proposes a real fix to entitlements (a firm fix – increase retirement age, lower benefits) and a decrease in the Defense budget (11 Carrier Battle groups – really?) none of us should take them seriously. All other suggestions represent using a bucket to bail out the Titanic!
Fair point. It's not the entire left that went into full meltdown, just NPR. A sensational headline, I admit. But did you see the innocuous comment that got him fired? Juan Williams has been with NPR forever, has done a very good job and has been ideologically loyal. And now one little comment about fear of Muslim terrorism and they fire him?
I can agree with your point. I think the comment was stupid (especially as terrorists are unlikely to dress in the full garb) but was surprised that it got him the boot.
I re-read this having entered into a discussion about this topic and just LOVE the last sentence:"Ms. Shepard said she had received 378 listener e-mails in 2008 listing complaints and frustrations about Mr. Williams. " OMFG! THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE!!!! Or it's the equivalent of zero.
Negocios Loucos said "OMFG! THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE!!!! Or it's the equivalent of zero." - if we assume that only one in a mission would actually take the time to make a formal complaint then we can fairly assume that nearly the entire population of our country was inflamed by him. Wouldn't want to be him!
