This is a recurring theme:
1) Leftists hear something they don't understand from Sarah Palin.
2) Leftists, smug in their condescending view that Sarah Palin is an idiot, don't bother to check facts.
3) Leftists embarrass themselves attempting to mock Palin, who is correct.
This brought great hilarity when University of Wisconsin professor Menzie Chinn did it in 2008.
Now Gwen Ifill does the same, mocking Sarah Palin for referring to 1773 at a tea party, when in fact the Boston Tea Party occurred in 1773.
Of course, it's not just Ifill. It's a whole smorgasbord of I'm-so-much-smarter-than-Sarah-Palin leftists.
It's nice to see that Ifill's PBS is dropping any pretense of fairness, though.

oh, please. PBS hasn't bothered to pretend they're "fair" for decades now. still, it IS amusing to see smug, condescending, self-proclaimed 'intellectual elites' like NPR staff/listeners step in the cow patties - and then act like A)they didn't do what you just saw them do, or B) they DID do what you just saw them do, but they did it on *purpose*.
'cause they're **smart**.

I can't speak for leftists but, for myself, I think Sarah Palin is an idiot because I do understand what she is saying. I listened to the full Katie Couric interview and I was embarrassed for my country that she couldn’t name a single paper she read – “All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years" or her confused statement regarding lame duck status in her resignation speech “that's what's wrong - many just accept that lame duck status, hit the road, draw the paycheck, and "milk it" . I'm not putting Alaska through that” – when she was years away from being a lame duck. The fact that she quit the job in the first place should have sealed her political career but those on the right in this country are so willing to accept anyone as long as they spout the right tag lines and find a way to get Reagan’s name into a speech. She’s a hypocrite who spouts family values with a pregnant single daughter and rushed marriage herself (with a son born only 8 months after the elopement) who chose to run for VP with a one year old at home – I have no problem with a women doing these things but I do have a problem with her doing them while telling everyone else how wrong they are when they do the same.
She is part of a growing movement of christian extremist, intellectual lightweights who complain a great deal but, in the end, lack the talent to accomplish anything of value. Sarah Palin would be ridiculed by Ronald Reagan as well as by every serious Republican since Lincoln. The Right’s attraction to this weird fringe element is one of the greatest threats to this country.
