Government Motors shenanigans

It's easy to make money in business when you've got the full weight of the U.S. government putting its thumb on the scale for you.

Government Motors dealers pocketing $7500 credits for Chevy Volts.

And Government Motors' ugly stepsister Chrysler is getting the government reacharound too.

Crony capitalism at its finest. Or, if you prefer, fascism.

Who the hell would buy that ugly piece of shyt car that will obviously not work in 5 years and is from the a horrible communist company anyway? You'd have to be a complete idiot to buy a GM. That or a proud party member. Hey Volt owners, you're not saving the planet, you're contributing to the destruction of democracy and getting a crap car as a reward.

well, that puts me and my new Silverado solidly in the idiot camp. oooh, speaking of which, it is time for an oil change.

"You'd have to be a complete idiot to buy a GM."

Don't wanna be an American Idiot.... awww, shit - too late! And, part of the red neck agenda... shit, I can't catch a break....

I wasn't tryin' to make a statement. I just needed a god damned pick 'em up truck to go bird huntin' with this fall... I tried to force myself to like the Ford but just couldn't do it... damned if I don't dislike F-150's and the Ram??? don't even get me started.... maybe if I was doing steroids AND was the lovechild of an brother/sister incestuous relationship....

Is a cigar ever just a cigar?

Thanks for the link, W.C.!

I certainly will never fault anyone for buying GM or Chrysler (particularly if they're Chinese) it's just that it will be a frigid day in hell before I do. Eff'm.

fascism - statism with corporations left intact (as cartels or quasi-governmental agencies). I would prefer a better term since Hitler kinda muddled the waters with his scape-goating of Jews, but its still the right term.

Oil change on the Silverado scheduled for Wednesday at Weber Chevrolet in beautiful Columbia, IL. The dealer threw in the first two for free with the sale.

Tell you something. When I bought it I traded in the Jeep. Gettin' too old to be rattled in a short wheelbase vehicle anymore. My old bones need something a little more comfortable. Had a Cheyenne pick up with a five speed that I had real good luck with and that I liked. They don't make the Cheyenne anymore and almost no one makes a full size pick up with a stick shift anymore. Anyhoo, GM sends me a "How'd we Do?" questionaire after the sale and I wrote them back - "You did fine. I was well treated once the sales guy knew I was for real and not interested in any bullshit, Ally bank dip shit financing, undercoating, extended warranties, etc., etc. We'll need GM to build tanks and shit if another big war ever breaks out and I'm happy to buy your product but if you go fucking bankrupt again, I'll NEVER buy another truck from you for as long as I live." I did NOT get a reply - can you believe that WC? I was hurt... The Silverado was built in Indiana and the Vision was built in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Buy local. You hippies say you should do that with your food so why shouldn't you do it with your wheels?

yeah, and the Japanese government does NOT prop up its own automobile industry....yeah right... naaaahhh, that would NEVER happen..... and the Chinese would NEVER prop up their own export driven industry by way of currency manipulation....???? naaahh, those Asians are ALWAYS altruistic Saints...... question: what fuckin' turnip truck did you assholes ride into town on and just fall off of???? we ain't the first to go with a ZIRP for an extended period of time. c'mon mother fuckers, I woke up in the mood for a fight...

naaaahhh, Japanese industry has NOT benefited from the Bank of Japan's ZIRP policy... it is ONLY about the quality of their product compared to others in the market place...and Chinese industry NEVER uses slave labor and Indian culture does NOT have a discriminitory caste system that enslaves thousands of pople (untouchables) in poverty based only upon who their parents were... naaaahhh, that part of the world is just fucking fantastic and the god damned US of A is just a pile of stinking shit....

"obviously not work in 5 years"

really... so you're a mechanic or an engineer? "obviously NOT work in five years".... I had a god damned Chevy Vega when I was a kid - THE crappiest car GM ever made and there have been a few - and the fucking thing ran for ten....sold it to a rural mail carrier in Hattiesburg, MS who just LOVED the damned thing.

criticise, sure... that keeps them on their toes

but kill GM altogether??? really????

let them shrink so that they can grow again at some point in the future.

You think Detroit is going to be able to re-invent itself by way of skateboard manufacturing or Smoothie Kings or flipping inflated real estate to the next greater idiot or some other California ass hat activity?? No, it's gonna come as a result of a return of heavy industry which is what the Mid West does best. All those trinkets and toys might be fine and dandy but the un-sexy shit that makes a miserable fucking life worth while (like pipe, valves, toilets, steel, rail cars, etc.) comes from where people get their fucking hands dirty for a living.

"As a group of Ford Motor Co. (F) managers in blue jeans sat down to interview a suit-wearing candidate from a California technology company this month, they jokingly offered to cut off his tie to put him at ease."

I'd love to see Detroit take some of California's best young engineers and put them to work. I'd LOVE to see what would be possible. A reverse migration out of California and leave all the diversity assholes and leeches to run that state completely into the fucking ground. Wouldn't that be fucking entertaining to watch?

“If we filled every opening that’s been posted or recruited just in the Lansing area, we’d be able to hire out all of our graduates three times over,” said Garth Motschenbacher, who helps place computer-science graduates at Michigan State University. About 70 percent of the school’s 54 students scheduled to graduate in May have jobs lined up, he said. “The number of students has not kept up with the opportunities.”

Party on Wayne... Party on Garth....

Garth Motschenbacher

is that a fucking name or what? God, I hope Garth and his buds can do SOMETHING with that F-150 truck so that I'll like it. C'mon young man... show 'em what you can do. I'm rooting for you.

at Purina, everyone loves the engineers 'cause these are the guys (and a few girls) who usually are lacking in bullshit social niceties but who are also straight shooters (more often than not) and actually MAKE/DESIGN the shit that makes the company work.

The dealers are the ones playing three card monty with the Volts in order to pocket the tax credit that was intended for the buyer.... kind of like the Obamabucks tax credit for home buyers WCV????....

"Just when was there a program that was not wrought with waste, fraud and abuse?"

No shit Sherlock.

Your bitch is with the car dealerships who are gaming the god damned system to their benefit. Oh, but wait, car dealers (see JDA's fab Honest Ben's Auto Emporium pic) NEVER do something unethical to benefit themselves over their customers, NEVER.... car dealers are and have always been bastions of honesty and fair dealing....

And again, what fucking turnip truck did you assholes ride into town on????

Happy Super Tuesday!
